Barnes and Noble, 1998. Large format softcover book (trade paperback) in VG condition - tight and square and unmarked. The cover has a little wear at the edges. Originally published as "Oracles of Nostradamus."

Michel de Nostedame was born in Provence in 1503. He became a respected physician, a renowned astrologer, and, by the time of his death in 1566, an infamous prophet. In a fervor of foresight fueled by his scientific traiing and his passion for astrology, he wrote Centuries, the oracles now known as the Prophecies of Nostradamus. When published in 1555, Centuries met with a good deal of public derision, but it also found favor with several readers of great influence, among them Catherine de Medici and Henry II of France. Four centuries have borne out the amazing accuracy of many of the oracles that his contemporaries found cryptic or foreboding: the English domination of the oceans, the Great Fire of London, the French Revolution, Napoleon's rule, the rise of Hitler, and the decimation of Hiroshima. This reprint edition of the Prophecies includes a life of the author and a chapter on magic and astrology to aid the reader in understanding the social context within which the oracles were written.
